Katja Esser presents at America’s Stonehenge
Vernal Equinox,
Sat.
March 20 at 6:30 pm short sunset ceremony at sunset equinox stone
7:15 pm main ritual at the center of main site
There is some preparation involved that you need to do at home.
If you do not have time to read it all please go to ‘What to bring’
below.
Winter with its icy breath holds the earth in a cold hard frozen grip.
The light has increased as we wait for that moment for the warm breath of
air to caress the landscape and allow the waters to soften and swell.
We are awaiting the call of the birds echoing throughout the land
announcing the joy of life returning.
The silence of the frozen world will be broken; listen for the snaps and
pops of life bursting forth.
We will be gathering at the equinox, a moment of balance when day and night are
equal. It announces the season of
rapid change and growth. Out of the
darkness, out of the Earth Mother’s womb, we push our way through to embrace a
new dawn in our lives. To embrace
what still touches us with beauty in a world of so much pain.
We present our old worn out skins, tattered with stories of sorrow and
blessings as an offering of beauty to feed the other world.
Our rebirth is an opportunity to allow for change and a different
approach.
Come with your old skins, your umbilical cord and your desire to rebirth.

Preparation is a big piece of the ritual.
What you put in is what you will harvest or in this case birth.
Katja Esser is your main facilitator
and you can expect the ritual to be very participatory.
It is important that you bring the items described below to the ritual to
give it its full effect to feed us and the other world.
The ritual takes place at the heart of the ancient site and we will be utilizing
the oracle chamber. For those who
want to be there to see the sun set gather at 6:30
pm at the Vernal Equinox sunset stone and we will do a joint prayer
there.
From there we move to the main site at around 7:15
pm to start the main part of the ritual.
- A piece of colorful cotton fabric about 1 square yard
that is your old skin. You will not
get this piece back. You can add
things to it that pertain to your old story that you want to shed.
- An umbilical cord made of strips of fabric
that you tie knots in that first represents the pains we have received in our
lives. Second, the pains we
inflicted on others. Third, blessings we
have received. Fourth, blessings we
have bestowed on others. The total
length of the umbilical cord after being knotted could be twice our arm’s
length.
- Bring a flash light, drums or other sound makers if you have them, some finger
food for after the ritual, raingear if needed and your own water to drink.
Make sure you dress warm.
Cost:
there is $9.50 entry fee at the visitor’s center and a minimum of $6 at the
ritual site.
Ritual will happen rain or shine.
There is always prayer to the weather spirits and tarps if needed.
